SPECIALTIES
AEM provides particular expertise on the following environmental practice areas:
- Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dioxins/furans, or chlorinated volatile organics (CVOCs), hexavalent chromium contamination (assessment, evaluation, remediation);
- Brownfields site evaluation and restoration;
- Remedy alternatives evaluation, selection, and design for soils, contaminated sediments, and/or groundwater;
- Critical review and evaluation of environmental data and environmental response actions; and
- Evaluations and technical/management audits of commercial treatment, storage, and disposal (TSD) facilities.
SERVICES
AEM’s Clients rely on the level of professionalism, quality, and predictability of the services AEM provides that include:
- Senior-level technical consultation to Client’s senior management or counsel for environmental services provided by resources of multi-disciplined teams consisting or major environmental consultants, contractors, laboratories, or specialty service firms.
- Evaluation, remedy selection, design, bid package preparation and bid evaluation for remediation of contaminated soils, sediments and groundwater under RCRA, CERCLA or TSCA statutes; services which are enhanced by AEM's in-depth knowledge of prior contaminated sediment remediation projects, their outcome, costs, equipment used (e.g., environmental dredging), and lessons learned.
- Preparation of sampling and analysis plans and quality assurance plans for environmental media characterization.
- Work plan implementation, data evaluation, interpretation, and documentation.
- Obtaining release of site liability in compliance with Pennsylvania's Land Recycling and Environmental Remediation Standards Act (Act 2) including site characterization, compliance standard identification; remedy selection, plan development, and implementation; environmental agency interface; and final report preparation.
- Selection of commercial TSD facilities for waste treatment/disposal to support remediation.
- Assessment of aboveground and underground storage tanks for environmental compliance, and planning and management of tank removal and remediation.
- Performance of due diligence evaluations and reporting of Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments in support of property transfers.
- Preparation of RCRA Part B permits, SPCC Plans, and related environmental compliance documents.
- Providing second opinion, third-party review, or peer review services to clients on environmental projects and issues.
- Additional services include:
- Site characterization (e.g., sampling and analysis of environmental media);
- Soils, sediment, ground water and/or wastewater treatment alternatives evaluations, and associated permitting;
- Identification and control of environmental discharges;
- Oversight of remedy implementation; and
- Technical assistance in legal matters, including interface with Client environmental counsel and negotiations with regulatory agencies.
